Sanctity of Life

I believe Life is a precious gift from God. As a Representative of the People I will do everything within my power to preserve, protect and defend life from the instant of conception until the natural end of a life.

Religious Freedom

I believe that each person’s relationship with God is omnipotent. We must cherish each person’s right to worship as he or she sees fit.

Economic Development

Our District is the “hole” in the donut when it comes to economic prosperity. Laredo and McAllen flourish while our economy is fragile. We must invest in infrastructure, attract new businesses, and train and prepare a workforce.

Healthcare

We all need healthcare/ The first step in making healthcare available is generate a favorable climate for jobs that will provide for healthcare. We then must get government out of regulating the healthcare industry.

Immigration

Legal immigration has traditionally been good for our State and Country. Illegal immigration costs us billions of dollars each year and drives down entry level and middle- class wages. We must end illegal immigration if we are to grown the economy of HD 31 and must use any available State resources to assist in this endeavor. 2nd Amendmen

Education

Education is the cornerstone to a free and prosperous people. The Texas Constitution places the responsibility of establishing and maintaining the public-school system in the hands of the Legislature. The mandate is to establish an efficient public education system. Our education system must meet the requirement for providing our children options for the best future possible. We need to examine vocational and technical training in conjunction with an economic development plan.

Property Taxes

The system is defective, and we are placing more and more people at risk of losing their homes as the property taxes sky rocket. This past legislature began the process of changing the property tax system. We must now examine the appraisal districts as they exist and consider alternatives, so our citizens are not placed in the position of renting their homes from the government. I believe we must abolish appraisal districts and provide a permanent tax relief for our seniors.
